I attended California State University Long Beach in California where I received a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Geography. While I loved studying the subjects, I didn't want to pursue a career in either of those fields because I want a job where I can create with my hands and do something that I love. So I decided to take a few culinary classes to explore my love for baking. I took savory classes as well as baking and pastry classes.
This summer I moved into an apartment with my best friend and we had to learn how to grocery shop on a budget and cook delicious meals that are also healthy! So I hope I can share my journey of saving money, cooking, baking, and living my everyday life.
Today I made my version of pasta salad! It's pretty healthy, depending on what you want to put in it, and can be a quick and inexpensive meal.
This is generally what I like to use in my pasta salad, but you can use any veggies, meats, or cheeses that you like! I also like to add avocados, but I didn't have any today. Some other great additions would be bell peppers, tomatoes, red onion, pepperoni, salami, or anything else you can think of.
The basic guidelines for pasta salad are to chop your veggies and meats into small bite-sized pieces and mix them in with your favorite pasta shape. Add your favorite dressing and a sprinkle of parmesan cheese and enjoy! If you use lettuce make sure to eat it right away because the lettuce will get soggy if it sits around for too long. Any other veggies and meats should last a couple days in the fridge, however avocado would turn brown after a few hours.
This is another addition I like to make. It's the Ralph's brand for the brand name seasoning "Salad Supreme". They are pretty much identical and add extra flavor to pasta salads (or any salads!).
This was my finished meal!
Pasta Salad:
Romaine lettuce
English cucumber
Dried cranberries
Mini Penne (white fiber because I was trying something new)
Parmesan cheese
Salad Magic Italian dressing
Kroger Salad Seasoning
